What Doozy can do in Basecamp

Doozy reads projects, to-do lists, messages and schedules and adds or completes to-dos when you ask. Posting and deleting start off. You approve Doozy on Basecamp's own sign-in screen, with no keys to paste, and each tool has a switch in Doozy.

  • Read projects, people, to-do lists and to-dos
  • Read message boards, comments, Campfire chats and schedules
  • Add to-dos and to-do lists, with assignees and due dates
  • Complete, reopen and update to-dos
  • Add, update and move cards on a card table, with steps
  • Create and edit documents, and upload files to Docs & Files
  • Read the timesheet report and a project's recent activity

Things people ask

In a thread, after @Doozy. It answers in that thread, with what it did.

  • @Doozy what's still open on the Website Refresh to-do list, and who's on each?

  • @Doozy add a to-do on the Launch list for each action item in this thread, due Friday.

  • @Doozy add a card to the Requests column on the Client Work card table for this, with three steps.

  • @Doozy every Monday at 9, post the to-dos due this week across all projects, and tick off the ones marked done in Linear.

How to connect Basecamp

No keys to paste: Basecamp asks you to approve Doozy, the way it does for any app, and you can revoke that there any time.

  1. 1

Add Doozy to your Slack and open the Integrations page in the web app.

  2. 2

Pick Basecamp and click Connect. Basecamp's own sign-in asks you to approve Doozy.

  3. 3

Choose which of its tools Doozy may use, and mention @Doozy in a thread.

What stays off, and what's always true

Doozy works like a teammate, so it doesn't stop to ask. You decide what it can reach.

Off until you say so

  • Posting messages and comments, and adding schedule entries
  • Trashing projects and deleting anything, and changing who's on a project

Always

  • Every task runs in its own isolated workspace. Credentials stay outside it.
  • Every tool has a switch. Tools that delete or overwrite start off.
  • Every action it takes is on the audit log, with who asked and what happened.
  • Owners and admins connect tools and choose switches. Members can only look.

Works well with

One ask often crosses tools: a Sentry error becomes a GitHub pull request and a Linear issue. Doozy uses whichever it needs.

Questions people ask before they connect Basecamp

Can Doozy post on the message board?
Not out of the box. Posting messages and comments starts switched off, so Doozy drafts the post in Slack for you. An admin can turn posting on.
How does Basecamp sign in?
You approve Doozy on Basecamp's own sign-in screen, and it works as you, in the projects you can already see.
Can Doozy see our Basecamp credentials?
No. Every task runs in its own isolated workspace, and credentials stay outside it: they're added to each call on its way out. Nothing it reads or writes there can expose a key.
Will it change things in Basecamp without asking?
It works like a teammate, so it doesn't stop to ask, and you decide what it can reach. Tools that delete or overwrite start switched off, you can switch off any other, and every action it takes is on the audit log with who asked.
Who can connect it?
Owners and admins of your Doozy workspace. Members see what's connected and can't change it. Everyone in your Slack can ask Doozy once it's connected.
What does it cost?
Nothing extra. Every integration is included on every plan, and the 14-day trial needs no card.
