What Doozy can do in Gmail

Doozy searches and reads the mailbox that's connected, and writes drafts for you to send. Sending, forwarding, deleting and changing settings start off; turn them on only if you want it to. You approve Doozy on Google's own sign-in screen, with no keys to paste, and each tool has a switch in Doozy.

  • Search email by sender, subject, label, date or words, and read whole threads
  • Read attachments on a message
  • Write drafts, new or as replies in a thread, and edit them
  • Look up contacts and people in your directory
  • Add and remove labels, create labels, and mark messages read
  • Read your filters, forwarding and vacation settings

Things people ask

In a thread, after @Doozy. It answers in that thread, with what it did.

  • @Doozy what did Acme say about the renewal in email last week? Summarise the thread.

  • @Doozy draft a reply to the latest email from [email protected] saying the invoice goes out Friday.

  • @Doozy find every email with an invoice PDF from this month and put sender, amount and due date in a sheet.

  • @Doozy every morning at 8, post the unread emails from customers that still need an answer.

How to connect Gmail

No keys to paste: Gmail asks you to approve Doozy, the way it does for any app, and you can revoke that there any time.

  1. 1

Add Doozy to your Slack and open the Integrations page in the web app.

  2. 2

Pick Gmail and click Connect. Google's own sign-in asks you to approve Doozy.

  3. 3

Choose which of its tools Doozy may use, and mention @Doozy in a thread.

What stays off, and what's always true

Doozy works like a teammate, so it doesn't stop to ask. You decide what it can reach.

Off until you say so

  • Sending, replying and forwarding email
  • Deleting or trashing messages, threads, drafts and labels
  • Creating filters and changing mail settings

Always

  • Every task runs in its own isolated workspace. Credentials stay outside it.
  • Every tool has a switch. Tools that delete or overwrite start off.
  • Every action it takes is on the audit log, with who asked and what happened.
  • Owners and admins connect tools and choose switches. Members can only look.

One ask often crosses tools: a Sentry error becomes a GitHub pull request and a Linear issue. Doozy uses whichever it needs.

Questions people ask before they connect Gmail

Can Doozy send email from Gmail?
Not out of the box. It writes drafts that land in your Gmail Drafts folder, and you send them. Sending, replying and forwarding start switched off; an admin can turn them on if you want Doozy to send.
Does it work with Google Workspace and personal Gmail?
Both. The person connecting approves Doozy on Google's own sign-in screen. If your Workspace admin restricts third-party apps, they may need to allow it first.
Can it connect more than one Gmail account?
Yes. Each connection is one Google account, and a workspace can add more than one, such as a shared support inbox and a founder's mailbox.
Whose inbox does it read?
Only the mailbox of the account that was connected. Everyone in your Slack who can ask Doozy can ask about that mailbox, so connect a shared inbox if that's what the team needs.
Can Doozy see our Gmail credentials?
No. Every task runs in its own isolated workspace, and credentials stay outside it: they're added to each call on its way out. Nothing it reads or writes there can expose a key.
Will it change things in Gmail without asking?
It works like a teammate, so it doesn't stop to ask, and you decide what it can reach. Tools that delete or overwrite start switched off, you can switch off any other, and every action it takes is on the audit log with who asked.
Who can connect it?
Owners and admins of your Doozy workspace. Members see what's connected and can't change it. Everyone in your Slack can ask Doozy once it's connected.
What does it cost?
Nothing extra. Every integration is included on every plan, and the 14-day trial needs no card.
